Okey's Promise Feral Cat Rescue

Since I began the Okey's Promise effort, many people have encouraged me to get involved in actual rescue efforts. I have agreed to do that on a limited basis to assist in specific regional rescue activities. Depending on how well it is received, I may expand the effort in the future.

This particular ChipIn is to raise funds for a feral cat rescue in Tuscarawas County, OH. A friend who has has been feeding a group of feral cats has recently had surgery and she needed assistance with the cats. I initiated a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program on 2/21/12 to maintain the colony at acceptable levels and prevent it from growing. Thirteen cats have been trapped and spayed/neutered so far, and we have at least 2 left.

We have already raised $313 to assist with the costs through a prior ChipIn event. We need a few extra dollars to offset costs for the remaining cats.

Each spay/neuter costs up to $60. One of a Kind Pets Spay Neuter Clinic in Fairlawn, OH has offered to cut this cost down to $20, however, this cuts into their donation funds. They have asked us to pay more if possible. Transportation costs need to be covered as well, as the cats have to be taken to a different county for the spay/neutering. Typically, I would not request funding for transportation, however, the mileage has been excessive and gas costly due to the distance of the colony from the clinic.

All of the donated money will go to a dedicated account at the CSE Federal Credit Union in Canton, OH. If donated funds exceed actual costs, the money will be donated to One of a Kind Pets.
Any assistance that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your interest and generosity for animals!
